NEC FC 0-1 Kitara FC

Wankulukuku

Kitara capped their 2023/24 football campaign with the Stanbic Uganda Cup trophy after beating NEC football club 0-1 in the finals played at the Muteesa II stadium in Wankulukuku on Saturday evening.

The two sides played to barren first half although NEC had the better chances but failed to utilize them until when  Solomon Okwalinga back heeled the ball from Denis Omedi in the 73rd minute to give the Royals a lead.

Hussein Mbalangu’s charges upped the pressure on Kitara but yielded nothing as that Okwalinga goal gave Kitara victory.

This was the third meeting between these two sides having met earlier in the league with each side winning it’s respective home fixture.

Wankulukuku:

For the Royals, the Muteesa II stadium in Wankulukuku has been a fine hunting ground for them this campaign. Their first win in the league this season happened here against SC Villa whom they beat 1-2 thanks to Denis Omedi and Kabon Living goals.

Brian Ssenyondo’s side recorded another dramatic 1-2 win over Express FC in the Uganda Premier league with Kabon scoring at the death.

The most memorable victory at Wankulukuku is the 2024 Stanbic Uganda Cup final 0-1 over NEC which meant Kitara will represent Uganda in the CAF Confederations Cup next season.

The Royals Uganda cup captain, Jamil Kiyimba was named the most valuable player and best goal keeper of this cup.
