Match Day 16 result:
UPDF FC 0-0 Kitara FC
Bombo
UPDF FC and Kitara played to a barren draw in their opening match of the second round of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League away in Bombo on Thursday evening.
A careful approach from both sides didn’t give much room for chances. The best opportunity of the game fell to Kabon Living whose effort failed to go past UPDF’s custodian Richard Anyama while the hosts were also denied by Crispas Kusiima after he tipped a goal bound ball over the bar in the first half.
UPDF continued to dominate the offensive end in the first half, they had another close opportunity from Christopher Kawagu but Kusiima again saved the attempt for a corner.
Mugisa unleased a long range shot towards the Royals goal but it sailed over the cross bar.
In the second half, Jude Ssemugabi had a chance when he dribbled his way into the box, fired a shot which Anyama blocked, George Senkaaba rebounded it but the quick reflexes from the host goalkeeper helped to keep the game barren.
The hosts sat behind, guarding their rare but Kitara’s Marvin Nyanzi was gifted with a chance which he directed towards the goal but yielded nothing.
The Royals pushed forward with youngster and debutant John Byaruhanga making deadly offensive runs on the flanks and delivering cross in the box but defenders Bernard Muwanga and Dan Ssekitoleko dealt with them all making sure the visitors didn’t score.
Kitara next host Soltilo Bright Stars on Monday 17th, February at the Royals Park Stadium - Butema.
