BUL FC 1-0 Kitara
Hamz stadium -Nakivubo
Kitara suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to BUL FC at the Hamz stadium - Nakivubo on Thursday night in Matchday 19 of the StarTimes Uganda Premier league.
Wasswa Bbosa’s side came into this game in fine form that had seen them register seven wins and three draws from their last ten league matches.
On the other hand, BUL have also not lost a game since their 2-0 home defeat to UPDF on December 12, 2024. Their victory over Kitara at Nakivubo stretched their unbeaten run to eight games.
The setback for Kitara means they have failed to beat the Eastern Giants in all their six meetings while the Royals pursuit for a victory at the Hamz stadium continues to elude them.
The Uganda Cup holders have not won a match in at Nakivubo in their five visits. They will return to the same venue on May 10, to face Express in the third last game of this season.
Kitara’s best effort in the opening half was a Frank Tumwesigye low shot that was denied by goal keeper Joel Mutakubwa a minute before recess.
There was not many chances created in a game that was mostly physical in especially in the first half. BUL midfielder Pascal Ngobi was involved in a challenge with Jasper Aheebwa and had to be stretched off the pitch before being whisked away to hospital for further assessment.
Ngobi’s replacement Kirya, gave BUL the lead in the 53rd minute when he brilliantly struck the ball from outside side the box into the Chrispas Kusiima’s net.
Karim Ndugwa nearly stretched the hosts lead but his his header went slightly wide and over the edge of the right goal post.
Kitara should have levelled matters had Rogers Mugisha’s attempt not been saved by an on rushing Mutakubwa in the 84th minute.
With this win, BUL remain third while Kitara could drop to sixth or seventh spot should KCCA and URA win their games on Friday evening.
The Royals host Mbarara City FC at the Royals Park stadium in the Western derby on Friday, March 14.
