Kitara Junior team graduate, John Bosco Byaruhanga is shining in his debut season for the Kitara senior team.
Making the progression from youth development football into a first team player, Byaruhanga has optimally utilized his first full season to shine in the right wing role.
This has deservedly secured him a spot on the team that is aiming to finish among top five in the league and retain the Stanbic Uganda Cup trophy.
The Royals are enjoying a progressive campaign having started off on a poor note that saw them fail to win five matches in a row subsequently slipping into the relegation zone in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
However, this bad run lasted until the end of October 2024.
Kitara had a turnaround of events from November following the arrival of Wasswa Bbosa where they went ten games unbeaten in all competitions.
The Wasswa Bbosa coached side has also progressed into the quarter finals of the Stanbic Uganda Cup last week following a 1-2 victory over Gaddafi FC at the Works Playground in Entebbe.
Byaruhanga with six appearances already since January 2025, the youngest player in the team, is pleased with his own progress so far;
“I am finding this season both enjoyable and challenging, with the league being such a close contest and playing regularly against other teams in the league and cup. I’m playing and competing with good and experienced players in the team which makes every day more interesting.
My teammates have helped me settle in and develop further which has tremendously shaped my performance and growth. I think there’s much more for me to learn and hopefully we will see success in the future.”
JB, like he’s known among his teammates, made is debut in Kitara’s goalless stalemate with UPDF football club on February 13th, 2025 away at the military playground in Bombo.
The youngster put up an impressive display making electric runs on the right wing and making deliveries in the box despite his side being unable to pick maximum points, he helped them secure a point on the road.
He has since been involved in 3 goals for the Royals in all competitions.
The winger has two assists one apiece in the league and Cup and his first goal for the club against Gaddafi FC sealed our progress to the quarter finals of the Stanbic Uganda Cup.
On Thursday Kitara face Police FC away at Kavumba as the former continue their pursuit for a top five league finish.
