Stanbic Uganda Cup
3 -May-2025
Semi Final - first leg
Vipers 🆚 Kitara
7pm
St Mary’s stadium
Kitara FC will endeavour to pursue their Stanbic Uganda Cup second title when they travel to St Mary’s stadium in Kitende to face Vipers this evening.
The two teams meet for the second time this season with the first encounter ending 0-0 last November in the league.
Last season, Kitara eliminated the Venoms at the quarter final stage of this competition but this fixture poses to be an exciting one for both sides.
The Royals’ only hope of winning silverware is in the Uganda Cup while Vipers are chasing a double meaning the stakes will be high when the two sides face off.
Wasswa Bbosa’s side comes into this game off a barren stalemate with Wakiso Giants and will be hoping to quickly end their goal drought that has seen them score just two goals in their last five matches.
On the other hand, John Luyinda’s side has netted eight times in the last five games and managed to score more than one goal in their 2-2 draw and 3-1 win against Express and NEC respectively. They picked narrow victories over Lugazi FC, SC Villa and UPDF.
The Uganda Cup defending will be bouyed by the return of their forwards Henry Patrick Kaddu and George Senkaaba from a two match suspension while experienced center back Benjamin Nyakoojo also returns from injury to face his former bosses.
While the hosts are yet to lose any game at their yard, Kitara know that they must at least score a goal tonight to stand an advantage going into the second leg.
Team news:
Titus Ssematimba will miss both semi final legs following a red card he picked in our 1-0 quarter final win over BUL FC.
Youngster John Bosco Byaruhanga and Kabon Living miss out through hamstring and ankle injury respectively.
