Match day 28 result:
Kitara FC 1-0 Maroons FC
Royals Park stadium

Titus Ssematimba scored the only goal for Kitara as the Royals beat Maroons FC 1-0 on Saturday in the StarTimes Uganda premier league.

The hosts capitalized after Maroons defence failed to contain Ssematimba who dribbled past three opponents before firing the ball in the top left corner of the net past goal keeper Simon Tamale in the 82nd minute.

Kitara host Vipers at the Royals Park stadium on Wednesday in the final home game of the league this season before meeting then again in a crucial Stanbic Uganda Cup semi final second leg next Saturday.

Wasswa Bbosa put Ssematimba in the left flank, while Amaku Fred and George Senkaaba occupied the striking and right wing positions respectively following the withdrawal of Rogers Mugisha and Patrick Kaddu earlier.

Bbosa was missing absentees Kabon Living and Jude Ssemugabi among others who are sidelined through injury.

The gaffer’s changes paid dividends as the forward netted the team’s first goal having gone over four matches without scoring.

Kitara had earlier been denied three times by Maroons custodian Simon Tamale who thwarted attempts by Moses Sseruyidde, Kaddu and Frank Zaga Tumwesigye.

Zaga had the Royals first real chance but Tamale parried his effort after the midfielder cut in from the right.

Now on 41 points, the win lifted Kitara to sixth, a place above Maroons on the table standings.
