Brian Ssenyondo was pleased with the way in which his side responded to their last Thursday setback, after they returned to winning ways with a 1-0 victory over Express FC.

Kitara scored in the 37th minute through  Mucureezi Paul’s header to edge the Red Eagles at the Masindi Stadium and climb back into the StarTimes Uganda premier league top 3 on Tuesday.

“We wanted to come back better and we told ourselves that after the loss in Kitende,” Ssenyondo said in his post match press conference. “It’s a huge credit to the guys with how they responded.

“It was a great reaction especially in terms of results. We did not play so well but we scored and managed to contain Express for most of the second half because they pressed for an equalizer but the players did well to deny them any chances. They were a good opponent but we needed to win at home for the fans.

“I’m delighted for the lads – this performance is down to them. You could see everyone fighting and giving their all.”

Here is what else the gaffer had to say about goal keeper, Farouk Yawe….

“Farouk Yawe played well, this was his first full appearance in the Uganda premier league and he was very dependable on the evening. He made sure he kept a clean sheet; we want this to be done more often and it has to be an objective of ours in the remaining games.”

The means Kitara has 22 points and will next travel to Kakyeka stadium to play Mbarara City next Wednesday.
