Uganda Cup: Round 32

Kitara vs Gaddafi FC
Masindi stadium

After knocking Nebbi Central FC out of the Uganda Cup last month, Kitara attempt to make it to the last sixteen of the 50th edition of this competition, as they host Gaddafi FC at the Masindi stadium.

It’s been an inconsistent season thus far for the Soldier boys, and although they made some reinforcements last month which include Bashir Asiku, Ivan Sserubiri among others, they have not been able to register wins in their last two league matches.

1-0 loss was followed by 0-0 draw to URA and Vipers respectively, Gaddafi seek a quick turnaround in their performance when they visit the Masindi on Friday evening.

The Royals won 1-2 the last time the two teams faced off in October 2023, owing to George Senkaaba and Kabon Living goals.

Kitara FC goal keeper Jamil Kiyimba admits this encounter won’t be an easy one but they are set for the challenge.

“We passed the Nebbi test but Gaddafi FC is a better opponent who will come to put a fight and try to upset us but we have prepared ourselves well, my teammates are fired up and will do their best to make sure we progress to the next stage.”

A win for the Royals will see them quality to their second straight Uganda Cup round of 16.
Last season saw them beat Fort Portal’s Uganda Pentecostal University 2-1 in a closely contested tie at the Kigaaya play grounds.

Team news:
Brian Ssenyondo will have to manage without defenders Ibrahim Magandaazi and David Kasaija who are nursing respective injuries.

Shafiq Magogo returned to school thus will be unavailable for this match.

Midfielder Luwalo Kipper is yet to recover from a groin problem he picked last month.
